HEARTY LENTIL AND RICE BURGER

Serves: 6 patties
Ingredients
- ½ cup dried green lentils, rinsed
- ½ cup brown rice
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 tsp. ground sage
- 1 tsp. sea salt
Instructions
- Cook ½ c dried lentils and ½ cup brown rice ahead (leftovers work great!)
- Cook onions in saucepan over medium heat for 4-5 minutes, until slightly translucent. Add carrot, garlic, cumin, sage, and salt and stir for 3-5 more minutes. Then add rice and lentils.
- Smash with a potato smasher until smooth, or mix in food processor. The mixture should be easy to form into patties. If it is too moist, add grated GF bread crumbs.
- Prepare a medium-hot fire in the grill with a lightly oiled vegetable rack in place. Grill the burgers until crisp, about 5 minutes per side.
- Serve on a salad or wrapped in lettuce with your favorite toppings.
- Serve with hearty salad.
